Orthopedic chairs - Orthopedic car seats
Orthopedic car seat products and attachments
Unfortunately, there is no motor manufacturer currently producing car seats using materials like visco elastic memory foam or Latex foam.
Many car seats do have adjustments for the rake of the seat (i.e. the angle of the back rest) and many have adjustable lumbar supports and seat inclination adjustment for the horizontal cushion section on which the driver sits.
However, for those wanting a more advanced and profiling car seating option there are some alternatives.
Memory foam car seat cushions
There are several companies that manufacture memory foam car seat cushions and pads. These products vary from complete seat and backrest supports to wedge cushions and they enable a new level of comfort and support to be provided for the back during driving.
The best and most complete solutions are the full size cushions that are shaped to fit a typical car seat and include, in a single unit, the seat and backrest sections. These memory foam seat additions simply sit on top of the car seat and work with it to provide a superior level of comfort and overall body support.
The alternatives are individual cushion sections for the backrest and seat sections, or the use of memory foam wedges and bolsters to support a specific part of the back.
Some car child seats are now available with memory foam padding.
Why have a memory foam car seat cushion
Not only do we spend a considerable amount of time seated in a car,
but we also get shaken, vibrated, bounced and buffered during a typical journey.
None of this is good for the body, least of all the back, bones, joints and muscles, so a seat support that profiles itself around each and every individual body shape is a good idea.
A memory foam car seat cushion has the natural advantage of holding any body shape in exactly the right position and cushioning against jolts and bumps. This can only be good news, particularly on long journeys and on poor road surfaces.
Memory foam car seat cushions are of the greatest benefit to those who travel extensively, are elderly, or those with back or joint problems.
