Orthopedic chairs - Corner sofa
Aside form being fashionable, the corner sofa can be a great way to give your living room, lounge or family room a new and different look. Corner sofas come in a range of styles and sizes and this means that they will suit just about any room’s shape and size.
The basic idea behind the corner sofa is to have two connected seating areas at ninety degrees to one another. In other words it is like arranging two sofas, or a sofa and an easy chair together, the only difference is that they are a single item of furniture.
These corner sofas can enable four, five or even six people to be seated on the same piece of furniture and this can be perfect if the focal point of the sofa is a TV or computer entertainment system.
These sofas are also great for conversations and get-togethers because they keep everyone in the same area.
Corner sofa variants
If you like the idea of a corner sofa, but you are not too sure whether or not one will fit into your room, here are some of the design variations that you can choose from.
- You can have the two seating areas (i.e. the sections at 90 degrees to each other) of an equal length, or with one section longer (and sometimes even wider) than the other. Having non symmetrical sized sections can help make a room look bigger, or give you more “walk-around” space than you would otherwise have.
- You can have backrests to both seat sections or, for a different look, you can have one of the sections with a chaise long style seat. Aside from looking stylish, the lack of a backrest also makes the sofa look less obstructive and, if it is placed in front of a window, it will not block out the natural light.
- You can have high or low backed backrests. You can even have a high back to one of the sections and a low back to the other.
- You can have a corner sofa with a wrap around backrest where the backrest continues around the sides of the sofa to form the armrests at both sides of the seat.
- You can have a standard large cushioned backrest design, or one based on a series of scatter cushions and you can often select the scatter cushions in contrasting colours and patterns.
In addition to the specific variations in corner sofa design, you also have the normal selections from different fabrics ranging from suede to leather, and different colours and patterns.
The appearance of the corner sofa can also be varied by having the addition of polished wood, brushed metal, wicker, or other materials as featured highlights at the sides and back of the sofa.
Ultimately there are lots of different looks and styles to the corner sofa and, when combined with its practicality, it can be a tempting proposition for any living area.
Price
How much the corner sofa costs will be dependent on a number of factors and size will be one of them.
It is possible to buy this kind of sofa with a seating capacity for six people, however it is also possible to buy a much smaller version with a two seat and single seat combination. Naturally part of the cost is reflected in the sofa’s size and the volume of material required to make it, so larger sofas tend to be more expensive.
