Orthopedic chairs - Kneel chairs or knee support chairs
In addition to orthopedic and ergonomic chairs with a regular appearance and seating posture, there are a number of seats which place the person using them in a kneeling (or knee support) position.
These kneel chairs are somewhat unusual in appearance, but are claimed to be good for the back and encourage a straight back and good spine alignment.
Ergonomic kneel chairs (and knee support chairs) can be used in the office or at home, but they tend to have applications connected with an activity (e.g. using a computer) rather than simply sitting in a relaxed position in front of a TV.
Most kneel chairs are made of a tubular steel construction, but they can also be purchased with more homely looking wooden frames for domestic situations, or where they need to blend in with traditional furniture.
There are a number of other ergonomic chair types that promote good posture and back health through alternative designs. These designs tend to encourage the back to support itself and place the lower body and legs in comfortable positions.
